The focus of the excellence cluster is on researching neurological and psychiatric disorders. The aim of this interdisciplinary research consortium is to gain a better understanding of disease mechanisms and to develop new therapies based on the insights gained. Central to the activities is the promotion of networking among scientists and their research endeavors.

The BIH (Berlin Institute of Health) establishes a comprehensive translational ecosystem in collaboration with the clinical environment of Charité. It promotes a cross-organ understanding of health and disease and fosters a translational cultural shift in biomedical research.
