Project description
By bringing researchers together from across the BUA partner organizations the ideal environment to promote cutting-edge research is achieved. This project oversees the joint application for and implementation of state-of-the-art research buildings, which are acquired via the joint federal and state funding program with Art. 91 b GG.
There are currently three joint projects running:
The Berlin Centre for the Biology of Health (BC-BH) acquired funding in the summer of 2023 and will be housed in the former Institute of Hygiene and Microbiology at the Charité Campus Benjamin Franklin from 2028 after renovation. Future research aims to determine the mechanisms of health in this highly interactive research space.
The Optobiology Center is a strategic research building that was acquired by HU Berlin (main applicant) and Charité in 2022. The benefit of the research building is to establish a scientific center for the promotion of photobiology, optogenetics and microscopy. The new building is to be constructed on the north campus of HU Berlin by 2027.
The Si-M (The Simulated Human) is a joint research building between TU Berlin and Charité. The building, which is currently under construction on the Virchow-Klinikum Campus, will be available in spring 2025. Research will focus on simulating human cell and organ functions in order to improve our understanding of diseases in the long term.
